NANJEMOY, Md. — A tragic accident involving minibikes in Charles County has left one young man dead.
The incident occurred on MD-224 near Wilson Landing Road, where 19-year-old James Thomas Claggett and a 16-year-old were riding separate unregistered minibikes. Neither rider was wearing a helmet or had lights on their bikes, which is a concern for safety.
According to the Maryland State Police, the two minibikes collided head-on, resulting in the fatality of Claggett.
As of now, no criminal charges have been filed in connection with the accident, but authorities indicate that this may change as their investigation continues. They are encouraging anyone who witnessed the crash to reach out to Trooper First Class Ashley Sabock at 301-392-1200.
