The body of a 52-year-old man who went missing after jumping into Rock Creek in Anne Arundel County has been recovered by dive teams. The Maryland Department of Natural Resources confirmed that the body of David Lawrence Jones, a resident of Silver Spring, was located on Monday evening around 5:45 p.m.
Jones was reported missing on Sunday afternoon near the entrance of Rock Creek, close to Harry and Jeanette Weinberg Park in Pasadena. He had been on a pontoon boat with six others when he jumped into the water to retrieve his hat, which had fallen overboard. Authorities noted that he was not wearing a life vest at the time of the incident.
The recovery operation involved divers from both the Maryland Natural Resources Police and the Anne Arundel County Fire Department. Following the recovery, Jones's body was taken to the state medical examiner’s office in Baltimore for an autopsy. The investigation into the circumstances surrounding his disappearance is ongoing, as stated by the Natural Resources Police.
