The Montgomery County Board of Education has made significant administrative changes during its recent meeting on July 16, filling various leadership roles within the school district.

Nicole A. Sosik has been appointed as the Associate Superintendent of School Leadership and Improvement, a key role aimed at enhancing educational leadership.

In the realm of special education and student support services, several appointments were confirmed:

  • Dr. Jamila W. Denney, former principal of Pine Crest Elementary, is now the Director of the Division of School Leadership and Improvement.
  • Shannon M. Farmer, previously the coordinator of the Department of School Counseling Services, will serve as the Director of the Department of Special Education Services.
  • Dr. Lisa M. Gaillard-Jones has been appointed as the Director of the Department of Special Education and Related Services.
  • Kishara A. Perry, who was a coordinator in the Department of Special Education Services, has been named the Executive Director of the Division of Specialized Support Services.
  • Dr. LaTonya R. Williams, also a former coordinator in the Department of Special Education Services, will lead the Department of Inclusive and Specialized Learning Supports.

Additionally, several new principals have been appointed:

  • Jeanni M. Chin, previously an assistant principal at Farquhar Middle School, is now the principal of Roberto W. Clemente Middle School.
  • Dr. Clifford J. Cooper Jr., formerly a principal intern at Robert Frost Middle School, has been appointed principal of Garrett Park Elementary School.
  • Dr. Joshua S. Fine, who was the principal of Flower Hill Elementary School, will now lead White Oak Middle School.
  • Jada Langston, who served as the acting principal of Carl Sandburg Learning Center, has been officially appointed as principal.

Other notable appointments include Desiree C. Adams as Supervisor of IT Operations and Delivery in the Department of Business Information Services, David Guzman as Supervisor of Community Schools, Miriam R. Plotinsky as Supervisor of Curriculum for English Language Arts, and Nicola A. Richards-Wright as Supervisor of Career and Postsecondary Partnerships.
