Moped Driver Dies Following Crash After Traffic Stop in Seton Hill

The Baltimore Police Department (BPD) is currently investigating a fatal accident involving a moped that took place late on July 2 in the Seton Hill area.

At around 11:25 p.m., officers were alerted to a crash on the 600 block of W. Franklin Street, where they found the 20-year-old male driver of the moped. Emergency medical services transported him to a local hospital, but he was later pronounced dead despite efforts to save him.

According to preliminary findings, the incident began when an officer attempted to conduct a traffic stop on two mopeds on the 100 block of N. Eutaw Street. One of the riders complied and stopped, while the other fled the scene. Officers did not pursue the moped that left the stop.

Shortly after, the fleeing moped driver crashed into a brick wall on W. Franklin Street, resulting in his ejection from the vehicle.

The BPD Crash Team has taken over the investigation, working to gather more details about the circumstances surrounding the accident.
