The Baltimore Police Department is currently investigating a tragic vehicle accident that resulted in the death of a moped rider in the Southern District.
At around 3:30 a.m. on June 21, officers responded to the 500 block of Martin Luther King Boulevard after receiving reports of a serious collision involving a pedestrian.
Upon arrival, police found that an adult male, who was riding a moped, had been struck by a 2014 Nissan Altima. Authorities indicated that the moped operator had crossed directly in front of the vehicle.
The injured rider was transported to a nearby hospital for treatment but succumbed to his injuries shortly thereafter.
The driver of the Nissan remained on the scene and is cooperating with authorities as the investigation continues.
Detectives from the Crash Team are working to gather more details about the incident.
