A tragic incident occurred late Thursday night in Baltimore when a 20-year-old moped driver lost his life after crashing into a brick wall.

According to the Baltimore Police Department, officers attempted to stop the moped rider along the 100 block of North Eutaw Street shortly before the fatal accident. The driver, however, fled the scene while another moped rider complied with the traffic stop.

Police confirmed that they did not pursue the fleeing driver. Less than a mile from the initial stop, at approximately 11:25 p.m., the 20-year-old collided with a brick wall on the 600 block of West Franklin Street in the Seton Hill neighborhood.

Emergency responders transported the injured man to a local hospital, where he later succumbed to his injuries. His identity has not yet been disclosed by authorities.
