HOWARD COUNTY, Md. — A motorcycle accident in Ellicott City resulted in the death of a man on Sunday evening.

The incident occurred around 7:30 PM as the rider was traveling east on Baltimore National Pike near Frederick Road. According to Howard County Police, the motorcycle, a 2008 Yamaha FZ1, veered off the roadway, causing the operator to be ejected from the vehicle.

Emergency responders pronounced the man dead at the scene. Police have indicated that no other vehicles were involved in the crash, and they believe that speed may have played a role in the motorcycle going off-road.

Following the accident, authorities closed the eastbound lanes of Baltimore National Pike in the vicinity of Frederick Road for approximately two hours while they conducted their investigation.

The investigation into the circumstances surrounding the crash is ongoing.
