MTA Announces Earth Day Art Contest for Young Maryland Artists

BALTIMORE — The Maryland Department of Transportation's Maryland Transit Administration (MTA) has kicked off its third annual Earth Day Art Competition, aimed at engaging young artists across the state.

This year's theme, "Public Transportation is a Climate Solution," encourages participants to explore how public transit can play a vital role in promoting environmental sustainability.

The competition is open to Maryland youth aged 5 to 17, with artwork submissions due by March 13, 2026. Winning designs will not only be showcased on a specially wrapped bus, transforming it into a mobile art exhibit, but will also be featured in the Maryland State Department of Education Superintendent’s Student Gallery located on Baltimore Street.

For more information on how to participate and submission guidelines, interested artists can visit the MTA's official website.
