MTA Bus Crash in Pikesville Injures Over 30, Videos Capture the Chaos

Video footage of a recent crash involving an MTA bus in Pikesville has surfaced, depicting the bus speeding through an intersection and colliding with multiple vehicles before crashing into a building. The incident, which occurred around 6 p.m. Wednesday at the intersection of Reisterstown Road and Old Court Road, left more than 30 individuals injured.

The footage, widely shared on social media, includes surveillance from the Platinum Law Group, located at the scene. This video shows the bus racing alongside a white SUV, subsequently striking several cars, knocking down an electrical pole, and ultimately crashing into a FedEx Office store.

Another video shared by Neha Gupta, the owner of Neha Salon situated on Reisterstown Road, captures the chaotic aftermath, including the sound of screams and honking horns. Gupta's footage also shows the bus dragging down electrical wires as it collided with the building, trapping the driver inside.

Baltimore County's fire chief described the scene as resembling a “war scene,” with debris scattered across the area, downed power lines, and overturned vehicles with deployed airbags. Emergency responders extracted the bus driver, who was later airlifted to a hospital for treatment.

Maryland transit officials have not released specific details about the crash, citing an ongoing investigation. The Maryland Transit Administration referred inquiries regarding the bus and its driver to the Baltimore County Police Department, which indicated that the bus had “lost control.”

In a statement, Baltimore County Police spokesman Trae Corbin reported that 36 patients were transported to various hospitals for treatment. Among them, four were taken to the University of Maryland Medical Center, with all discharged. Two patients were sent to R Adams Cowley Shock Trauma Center, where one remains hospitalized.

The chaotic scene prompted a response from over 100 first responders, and by Thursday morning, the area had been cleared of most debris. The FedEx store has been boarded up and marked with caution tape, while the wreckage extended along Reisterstown Road from Old Court Road to McHenry Avenue.
