An elderly couple from Odenton tragically lost their lives days apart after being involved in a head-on collision just a mile from their residence, according to the Anne Arundel County Police.
Amelia Knuckey, 85, was a passenger in the Hyundai SUV driven by her husband, Thomas Knuckey, also 85. The crash occurred on Monday, where Amelia was pronounced dead at the scene.
Thomas was initially reported to have non-life-threatening injuries but sadly passed away on Thursday at a local hospital.
The couple was traveling northbound on Piney Orchard Parkway near Ransom Drive when a Lexus SUV, driven by a 62-year-old woman, reportedly failed to navigate a curve and collided with their vehicle head-on.
Police responded to the incident around 3:25 p.m. The driver of the Lexus was taken to a hospital with injuries that were not considered life-threatening.
The Police Department’s Crash Reconstruction Team is currently investigating the circumstances surrounding the collision.
