Officer Shoots Dog After Attack on Two Women and Their Pet in Harlem Park

A Baltimore police officer fatally shot a dog in the Harlem Park area on Friday evening after the animal attacked two women and their pet.

According to the Baltimore Police Department, the incident occurred around 7:30 p.m. in the 1200 block of West Franklin Street. The officer was on patrol when he observed two dogs chasing the women and their dog.

While one of the dogs ran away, the other continued to pursue and attack the women’s pet. The officer attempted to subdue the aggressive dog using a Taser, but the device was ineffective in stopping the attack.

As the situation escalated, the officer made the decision to shoot the attacking dog. Following the incident, Animal Control was called to the scene to retrieve the remains of the deceased dog and provide assistance for the injured pet.

The Baltimore Police Department's Special Investigations Response Team is currently looking into the circumstances surrounding the shooting. The department has stated that it will release any relevant footage or audio from the incident in accordance with its Public Release of Critical Incident Recordings Policy.

This incident follows a previous case in March where a pit bull was euthanized after attacking its owner and subsequently charging at officers, who also shot the dog.
