Officer Shoots Dog After Attack on Women and Their Pet in Baltimore

A Baltimore police officer was involved in a shooting incident on Friday evening in the Harlem Park neighborhood, resulting in the death of a dog that had attacked two women and their pet.

The incident occurred around 7:30 p.m. in the 1200 block of West Franklin Street. According to a statement from the Baltimore Police Department, the officer witnessed two dogs pursuing the women and their dog.

While one of the dogs fled the scene, the other engaged in an aggressive attack on the women's dog. The officer attempted to subdue the attacking dog using a Taser, but the device was ineffective. As the situation escalated, the officer made the decision to fatally shoot the dog.

Animal Control responded to the scene, retrieving the remains of the dog that was shot and providing assistance to the dog that had been attacked.

The Baltimore Police Department's Special Investigations Response Team is currently conducting an investigation into the incident. The department has stated that it will release any available video or audio recordings of the event in accordance with its policy on public disclosure of critical incident recordings.

This incident follows a similar case in March, where a pit bull was euthanized after attacking its owner and subsequently charging at police officers, who then shot the animal.
