Pasadena Residents Begin Cleanup After Severe Storm Devastation

Residents of Pasadena, Maryland, are beginning the arduous task of cleaning up after a severe storm swept through the area on Saturday night, causing extensive damage.

The Anne Arundel County Office of Emergency Management reported that Pasadena was among the hardest-hit neighborhoods in the county, with downed trees and damaged power lines affecting numerous homes.

Local resident Brandon Doach was preparing to attend a concert when he witnessed the chaotic weather unfold. "I look outside of my sliding glass door, and it’s just swirling. I open up my blinds; I see my neighbor Dave’s tree fall. Bob over here is like yelling and screaming. His truck got completely ruined," Doach recounted.

Diane Johnson, who cut short a trip to return home after hearing about the storm's impact, described the scene as surreal. "It’s like a war zone almost. It’s crazy, all the downed trees, all the debris," she said.

As cleanup efforts began, Baltimore Gas and Electric (BGE) crews worked diligently to restore power to affected areas. While BGE reported that 80% of impacted customers in Anne Arundel County would have their power restored by Sunday, Johnson expressed concerns about the debris cleanup timeline. "I know they’re working really, really hard, and I want to say a couple of days [for the debris to be cleared]. I would not be surprised if it’s at least a week," she stated.

Doach, however, anticipated a longer timeframe for complete cleanup, suggesting it could take months due to the size of the fallen trees. "Some of these trees, they’re massive, and you can’t take a regular chainsaw to cut those in half," he explained.
