A serious collision involving a Maryland Transit Administration (MTA) bus occurred on Wednesday afternoon in Pikesville, Baltimore County, injuring more than 30 individuals.
The incident took place in the 1500 block of Reisterstown Road, where the bus collided with seven other vehicles before crashing into a nearby building. Eyewitness footage captured the chaotic aftermath, showcasing the extensive damage and the emergency response efforts.
First responders worked urgently to rescue victims, including two individuals who were trapped—one inside the bus and another in a vehicle involved in the crash. A medevac helicopter, along with a Shock Trauma GoTeam, was dispatched to the scene to provide care for those with severe injuries.
According to officials, at least 33 patients were transported to local hospitals, with at least one individual reported to be in critical condition. The rescue operation was completed by 7:18 p.m. on the same day, with all injured individuals evacuated from the area.
In response to the incident, a building engineer was called to assess the structural integrity of the building that was struck by the bus. Authorities are advising drivers to avoid the area due to ongoing investigations and cleanup efforts, which are expected to result in extended road closures along Reisterstown Road.
