BALTIMORE COUNTY, Md. — Authorities have identified the two siblings who were tragically found shot to death in their Gwynn Oak home on July 7. The victims are 15-year-old Giovanna Myrie and her 9-year-old brother, Steve Allen.

The Baltimore County Police Department reported that the children's mother contacted 911 around 7:20 p.m. after discovering their bodies. Officers responded to the residence located in the 6100 block of Talles Road.

According to dispatch audio, Steve was discovered shot in a bedroom, while Giovanna was found in the hallway. Emergency medical personnel pronounced both children dead at the scene.

As officers began their investigation, they canvassed the neighborhood for potential witnesses and surveillance footage. During this time, it was noted that the children's father had arrived at the location.

Baltimore County Police Chief Robert McCullough expressed his distress over the incident during a preliminary press conference, labeling it a double homicide investigation. He emphasized that the case appears to be isolated but did not provide details regarding forced entry or the presence of a weapon.

As of now, no arrests have been made, and the police have not established a motive for the crime. The community has rallied to express their condolences, with local schools such as Western High School sharing heartfelt messages on social media.

In their statement, Baltimore City Public Schools extended their sympathies to the family, friends, and classmates affected by this devastating loss, while also offering counseling services to those in need.
