Police Release Footage of Fatal Shooting During Hostage Situation in Baltimore

The Baltimore City Police Department has made public body-worn camera footage from a shooting incident that occurred during a hostage standoff on March 10. The situation began with a burglary call in the 6200 block of Park Heights Avenue.

According to police reports, a man was holding two family members at gunpoint when he opened fire on responding officers, injuring one officer in the leg.

A Special Weapons and Tactics (SWAT) team was deployed to the scene, where the suspect, identified as 33-year-old Jonathan Ingram of Baltimore, was subsequently shot and killed by a sniper officer. A firearm was recovered from the property.

The injured officer, identified as Brian Loiero, has 15 years of service with the SWAT team. Following the shooting, he was transported to Shock Trauma, where he has since been released.

The released footage depicts officers assisting a woman who escaped by jumping from a window. Shortly thereafter, the suspect began shooting from inside the house, hitting Officer Loiero.

While the video captures the immediate aftermath of the incident, it does not show the moment the suspect was shot, as the sniper officer was not wearing a body-worn camera.

Both women held hostage by Ingram sustained non-life-threatening injuries and are related to the suspect.

A witness, Nechemyah Rich, described the scene as chaotic, noting he followed officers and recorded the events on his phone. He recounted hearing a shotgun blast that startled him, prompting him to drop his phone.

As police escorted individuals from the home, Rich remarked on the intensity of the situation, likening the scene to something out of a movie.
