Prosecutors Request 20-Month Sentence for Former Baltimore State’s Attorney Marilyn Mosby

Federal prosecutors are asking the court to impose a 20-month prison sentence on Marilyn Mosby, the former State’s Attorney for Baltimore, as part of her ongoing case involving charges of perjury and mortgage fraud.

In a detailed 23-page sentencing memorandum, Assistant U.S. Attorneys Sean Delaney and Aaron Zelinsky emphasized the importance of accountability for individuals in positions of public trust, stating that a prison sentence would send a strong message about the consequences of illegal actions.

On the other hand, Mosby's defense team, which includes Federal Public Defender James Wyda and Assistant Federal Public Defenders Maggie Grace and Sedira Banan, has argued that their client is innocent of the charges. They have requested that the judge consider a sentence of probation accompanied by one year of supervised release instead of incarceration.

In their 68-page memorandum, Mosby’s attorneys questioned the fairness of a prison sentence, suggesting that it would not serve justice for their client.
