PIKESVILLE, Md. — A serious accident involving a public transit bus occurred on Wednesday evening, leaving more than 30 individuals injured. The incident took place shortly before 6 p.m. ET in Pikesville, situated just northwest of Baltimore.

According to the Baltimore County Police Department, the Maryland Transit Administration bus struck several vehicles before losing control and crashing into a nearby building. Emergency services responded promptly to the scene.

The bus driver sustained life-threatening injuries and was transported to a local hospital. In total, 36 people were taken to area hospitals for treatment following the collision.

Authorities reported that 12 vehicles were involved in the accident, one of which rolled over during the incident. The investigation into the circumstances surrounding the crash is ongoing.

Maryland Governor Wes Moore expressed his concern and gratitude for the first responders who acted swiftly to manage the situation. He stated on social media that his administration is in close coordination with local officials to provide necessary support.
