New information has surfaced regarding a ransom note linked to the abduction of Nancy Guthrie, the mother of NBC's "Today" show host Savannah Guthrie.
The note, which was received by the family, stipulated a demand for millions of dollars in bitcoin to be delivered within a week. It also cautioned the Guthrie family not to "play games" during this critical period.
Details within the note indicated that the kidnappers may have had prior access to Nancy Guthrie's home in Pima County, Arizona, as it contained specific information about the residence.
Nancy Guthrie, who is 84 years old, went missing in February. Surveillance footage captured a masked individual armed with a gun tampering with a doorbell camera around the time of her disappearance.
Following the kidnapping, both the Guthrie family and various news organizations, including KGUN in Tucson, received multiple anonymous communications. Some of these messages claimed that Nancy was "safe but scared," while others adopted a more threatening tone. The authenticity of these messages remains unclear, and authorities are investigating their origins.
The Guthrie family, alongside the FBI, is currently offering a reward totaling $1.1 million for any information that could lead to the safe return of Nancy Guthrie.
