Reginald Gray, 33, has been indicted by a Baltimore County grand jury on several charges, including first-degree murder, following the shooting death of 22-year-old Towson University student Nasir Majied.
The incident occurred last month near Towson Circle during what authorities describe as a road rage altercation. According to investigators, Gray allegedly ran a red light and cut off Majied, prompting the student to accelerate and block Gray's vehicle on York Road. In response, Gray reportedly fired shots into Majied’s car.
Gray's criminal history is troubling; he previously served five years in federal prison for attempted murder and is legally barred from possessing firearms. Court documents reveal a pattern of violence, including threats made against the mother of his child, which led her to seek legal protection and custody of their son.
Majied, originally from Edison, New Jersey, was remembered by friends and mentors as a quiet and kind individual. His former basketball coach expressed devastation over the loss, highlighting that Majied was a promising young man.
In a town hall meeting earlier this month, Baltimore County Police Chief Robert McCullough acknowledged community concerns regarding safety, emphasizing the importance of addressing public perception of crime.
Gray faces a total of eight charges, including six related to firearms, and could face life imprisonment without the possibility of parole if convicted. His next court appearance has yet to be scheduled.
