Savannah Guthrie Appeals for Information on Missing Mother Amid Ransom Note Reports

During a segment on NBC's "Today" show, host Savannah Guthrie expressed her anguish and appealed for public help concerning her mother, Nancy Guthrie, who has been missing since February. Reports surfaced indicating that a ransom note suggested her mother may have died months ago.

Guthrie, visibly emotional, stated, "I don’t have any comment on this story, and I’m not involved in our coverage, but I can’t pretend that I’m not here, and so since I am, I wanted to take the opportunity to ask people — to really beg people — to come forward. Somebody knows something."

Nancy Guthrie, 84, disappeared from her home in Pima County, Arizona. The FBI has been investigating her case since she was reportedly kidnapped. Surveillance footage from her doorbell camera captured a masked man tampering with the device around the time of her abduction.

In the wake of her disappearance, the Guthrie family received multiple anonymous messages, including ransom notes that demanded payment in Bitcoin. Some of these messages claimed that Nancy was "safe but scared," while others hinted at a more dire situation. One message reportedly stated, "Time is no longer of the essence," implying that she may not be alive.

The Guthrie family, alongside the FBI, is offering a reward totaling $1.1 million for information leading to Nancy Guthrie's return. The Pima County Sheriff’s Office confirmed that the investigation remains active and ongoing, working closely with the FBI to follow leads and gather information.
