School Bus Carrying Blind Students Crashes into Parkville Building

PARKVILLE, Md. — A school bus transporting students from the Maryland School for the Blind was involved in a crash that resulted in injuries on Tuesday afternoon.

The incident occurred at approximately 2:30 p.m. at the intersection of Harford Road and Lavender Avenue, according to Baltimore County officials.

Emergency responders reported that three individuals were injured during the crash, including the bus driver, one student, and an adult. All three were taken to local hospitals for treatment of minor injuries.

At the time of the accident, the bus was carrying two additional students and two adults. While those individuals were evaluated on-site, they declined further medical assistance.

Witnesses described the chaotic scene, with the bus striking several vehicles before crashing into a building. Carrie Shelley, owner of a nearby business, recounted how the impact shook her establishment, prompting her to evacuate her young child.

Ava Edwards, whose vehicle was also hit, shared her experience of being jolted by the collision and expressed her shock upon seeing the bus lodged into the building.

In response to the crash, Baltimore County Fire Bureau Chief Travis Francis emphasized the importance of safety awareness for both drivers and pedestrians, especially in light of recent serious accidents in the area.

A structural engineer from Baltimore County will assess the building once the bus is removed to determine its safety status.

Following the incident, all traffic lanes on Harford Road were reopened by approximately 10:22 p.m.
