Severe Weather Forecasts Predict Tornado Threat in Midwest

A severe weather outbreak is anticipated across the Midwest on Wednesday, with the Storm Prediction Center highlighting the potential for damaging tornadoes.

A tornado watch has been issued for parts of Missouri and Illinois, while strong storms are also predicted to impact Ohio and Indiana later in the day, particularly in Indianapolis, which faces a heightened risk.

The storm system demonstrated its strength on Tuesday, with wind gusts exceeding 90 mph reported in Iowa. Additionally, flooding is a concern in regions of Illinois, Ohio, Indiana, and Michigan, prompting flood watches as rainfall begins in these areas.

Forecasters indicate that the storms may arrive in several rounds on Wednesday, moving toward the East Coast by early Thursday. Some of the most severe weather is expected to occur after dark, with the Storm Prediction Center noting that evening storms could develop into supercells, which are more likely to produce tornadoes.
