Silver Spring CEO Faces Multiple Charges for Alleged Sexual Assault

A 58-year-old man from Silver Spring has been charged with several sexual offenses following an alleged assault on a woman at his business, the Fenote Training Academy, in May.

Melesse Semegne, who is identified as the academy's CEO and lead instructor, is facing charges that include second-degree rape, attempted second-degree rape, two counts of second-degree assault, and a fourth-degree sex offense. The incident reportedly occurred on May 5 when Semegne was alone with the victim, who was enrolled in a training course at the academy.

The Fenote Training Academy specializes in providing training for careers in health and public safety, including CPR and defibrillator use. The academy's website, which is currently not operational, previously indicated that it serves “underserved and low-income” communities.

Following the incident, detectives executed a search warrant at the academy on May 14, recovering items deemed of evidentiary value. Semegne turned himself in to authorities on Sunday and is currently being held without bond at the Montgomery County Central Processing Unit. He is represented by a public defender, although attempts to reach his attorney for comment were unsuccessful.

Authorities have expressed concerns that there may be additional victims and are encouraging anyone with information or who has interacted with Semegne to contact the Special Victims Investigations Division at 240-773-5400. Individuals wishing to remain anonymous can reach out to Crime Solvers of Montgomery County at 1-866-411-8477 or through their website.
