At 610 PM EDT, Doppler radar was tracking strong winds ahead of
showers and thunderstorms near Fort Belvoir, moving north at 30 mph.

HAZARD...Wind gusts up to 50 mph.

SOURCE...Radar indicated.

IMPACT...Gusty winds could knock down tree limbs and blow around
unsecured objects.

Locations impacted include...
Arlington, Alexandria, Waldorf, Dale City, Bethesda, Bowie,
Annandale, Clinton, Springfield, College Park, Fort Washington,
Fairfax, Langley Park, Fort Hunt, Vienna, Groveton, Forestville,
Falls Church, Huntington, and Largo.

This storm has already produced 50 mph wind gusts observed in
Occoquan!

This includes Interstate 95 in Maryland between mile
markers 1 and 20.

What to do

If outdoors, consider seeking shelter inside a building.

A Severe Thunderstorm Watch remains in effect until 1000 PM EDT for
District of Columbia...southern and central Maryland...and northern
Virginia.
