A tragic accident occurred in East Baltimore on Saturday afternoon, resulting in the death of a 19-year-old man riding a scooter.

According to the Baltimore Police Department, officers were dispatched to the 1700 block of N. Washington Street at approximately 2:30 p.m. after receiving reports of a vehicle collision.

Upon arrival, law enforcement found the scooter involved in a crash with an SUV. The young man operating the scooter was quickly transported to a local hospital, but despite the efforts of medical personnel, he was pronounced dead shortly after arrival.

The driver of the SUV remained at the scene and is cooperating with investigators. The police have assigned their Crash Team to take over the investigation into the circumstances surrounding the accident.
