Tractor-Trailer Driver Involved in Dundalk Crash Discharged from Hospital

The driver of a tractor-trailer that collided with several homes in Dundalk on Wednesday evening has been released from the hospital after sustaining non-life-threatening injuries.

The incident, which occurred on North Dundalk Avenue, resulted in significant damage to at least seven homes, with one homeowner displaced due to the destruction. Neighbors are now working together to clear debris from the area.

Witnesses captured video of the truck speeding down the street before it struck a utility pole, collided with two parked cars, and ultimately crashed into the residences. Local resident Kellie Deprima expressed her shock at the situation, noting the potential for greater harm. "It’s just horrible. I’m amazed that nobody was walking on the sidewalk," she stated.

One affected homeowner, who chose to remain anonymous, recounted the terrifying moment he was inside his living room when the truck hit. He described fearing that his house would collapse and quickly evacuated through the back. Fortunately, his children were not home at the time. He is currently staying in a hotel while assessing his next steps and has reported difficulty sleeping since the accident.

Cleanup efforts began early Thursday morning, with contractors working to remove the wreckage. Scattered debris, including parts of a front porch and steps, remained visible on the lawn of the damaged properties, with one home boarded up for safety.

Residents have raised concerns about speeding along North Dundalk Avenue, indicating that such incidents are not uncommon. Deprima highlighted the ongoing issue, stating, "A lot of accidents happen right here in front of our house, which involve our vehicles. It’s like a racetrack here at night and nothing’s done about it." She hopes local officials will take action to address the problem.

The Baltimore County Police are continuing to investigate the cause of the crash, with assistance from the department's Commercial Vehicle Safety Team.
