Traffic Fatalities Surge on Maryland Roads in July

BALTIMORE — As summer travel intensifies, Maryland's roadways have become increasingly perilous, with 20 fatalities reported in just two weeks.

According to the Maryland Department of Transportation, ten people lost their lives in traffic incidents from July 13 to 19. This follows another ten fatalities recorded in the previous week, from July 6 to 12.

Among the recent incidents, three motorcycle-related crashes contributed to the grim statistics. Two fatalities occurred in Baltimore County: one on Timonium Road in Cockeysville and another on Belair Road in Perry Hall. Additionally, a multi-vehicle collision in Adelphi claimed the lives of three individuals, while a separate crash on I-95 in Baltimore City resulted in one death.

In total, Maryland has seen 28 traffic-related deaths in July alone. Year-to-date, the state has recorded 219 fatalities on its roadways.
