Two men lost their lives in a BASE jumping accident on Sunday in the Mineral Bottom area near Moab, Utah. Among the deceased was Andrew "Andy" Lewis, a prominent stunt performer and the owner of BASE Jump Moab, who was well-regarded in the extreme sports community.
The Grand County Sheriff's Office confirmed that both individuals succumbed to their injuries at the scene of the accident. The second victim has been identified as 68-year-old Danny Joe Kregle from Arizona, who was reportedly performing a tandem jump with Lewis at the time.
According to Aerial Arts Moab, the tandem jump involves two participants being harnessed together during the jump. Kregle's family expressed their grief, remembering him as a devoted father and grandfather with a passion for making people laugh and performing magic tricks for his granddaughter.
