FREDERICK COUNTY, Md. — Kaylee Hottle, an actress recognized for her performance in the 'Godzilla' films, tragically lost her life in a car accident on Tuesday morning.
The incident occurred in the 11400 block of Windsor Road, where deputies from the Frederick County Sheriff's Office responded to the scene.
According to police reports, a 19-year-old man from Frederick was driving a 1995 Honda Accord when he veered off the roadway and collided with a culvert. Authorities believe that excessive speed may have played a role in the crash.
At the time of the accident, the vehicle had two passengers in addition to the driver. While the driver sustained non-life-threatening injuries and was transported to a local hospital, one passenger opted out of medical treatment. Sadly, the second passenger, 18-year-old Kaylee Hottle, later succumbed to her injuries.
Hottle was celebrated for her role as Jia in the 'Godzilla' series, where she formed a significant connection with the character King Kong.
In a heartfelt tribute, her brother, Joshua Hottle, shared a 23-minute video on social media using American Sign Language, expressing his grief over the loss.
The Texas School for the Deaf, where Hottle was a senior, also released a statement mourning her passing. They expressed their condolences to Hottle's family and friends during this difficult time and emphasized the need for privacy as details surrounding the accident are still limited. The school is providing counseling and support services for those affected by her death.
