A two-year-old child tragically drowned Saturday afternoon in the Brooklyn Park area of Anne Arundel County, according to local police reports.
Authorities received emergency calls regarding the incident at approximately 12:30 p.m. in the 400 block of Townsend Avenue, as stated by Sgt. Chris Anderson, a representative of the Anne Arundel County Police Department.
Following the incident, the child was transported to a nearby hospital, where they later succumbed to their injuries.
This incident marks one of the earliest drownings reported in Maryland this summer. Earlier in June, a 20-year-old Towson University student was also found deceased after a swimming incident in the Potomac River.
