Two Arrested in Baltimore County Following Rhode Island Kidnapping Incident

BALTIMORE COUNTY, Md. — A man and a woman were taken into custody in Baltimore County on Sunday in connection with a kidnapping that originated in Rhode Island.

At approximately 3:50 p.m., the Maryland State Police alerted Baltimore County Police about the whereabouts of the two suspects, who were believed to be in the Essex area.

Law enforcement officials located the vehicle associated with the suspects and attempted to initiate a traffic stop. However, the suspects did not comply with the police's signals to pull over.

A pursuit ensued, during which police deployed stop sticks, successfully deflating several tires on the suspects' vehicle. The vehicle subsequently struck a curb, prompting the suspects to flee on foot while accompanied by two children.

During the chase, a Baltimore County Police dog apprehended the male suspect, while the female suspect surrendered without incident.

The two children were transported to a local hospital for precautionary observation but were reported to be unharmed. Fortunately, no officers sustained injuries during the pursuit, and there was no damage to police or civilian vehicles.

Authorities indicated that the man and woman would face charges related to traffic violations and assaulting a police officer. The Maryland State Police is collaborating with Rhode Island State Police as they continue their investigation into the original kidnapping case.
