U.S. Military Targets Iran in Response to Maritime Attacks

The United States has carried out a significant military response against Iran, targeting at least 170 sites in the past two days. This action is described by U.S. officials as retaliation for Iran's recent attacks on three commercial ships in the strategically important Strait of Hormuz.

According to the U.S. Central Command, the latest wave of strikes involved around 90 targets, which included air defense systems, coastal surveillance assets, and facilities for missile and drone storage. Additionally, naval capabilities and military logistics infrastructure along the Iranian coastline were also hit. This follows a previous day's operations that saw approximately 80 strikes, which included attacks on more than 60 small boats linked to the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps.

Iran's Health Ministry reported that the U.S. airstrikes have resulted in at least 14 fatalities and 78 injuries.

President Donald Trump indicated that Iran has expressed interest in negotiating a potential agreement but raised concerns about the country's reliability in honoring such a deal. He stated, "I just don't know if they're worthy of making a deal. I don't know if they're going to honor the deal."

Despite a ceasefire agreement outlined in a memorandum of understanding between the two nations, Trump has asserted that the agreement is effectively nullified, suggesting that ongoing negotiations would be futile.
