A Baltimore woman, Marshae Smith, has been ordered to remain in custody without bail following a court ruling on July 7. Smith, 42, is facing serious charges including attempted first-degree murder and firearm-related offenses in connection with a shooting incident at Brannan’s Pub on Harford Road.
The shooting occurred in the early hours of March 24, where a 22-year-old man sustained a non-life-threatening gunshot wound and was subsequently hospitalized. Authorities reported that Smith was working as a security guard at the pub when the incident took place.
During the court hearing, defense attorney Staci Pipkin argued that some of the charges against Smith were incorrectly filed. Initially facing eight counts, Smith's indictment was later reduced to five. Pipkin emphasized that Smith is a licensed security officer in both Maryland and Virginia, has no prior criminal record, and is the primary caregiver for her two children.
According to Pipkin, the shooting occurred after Smith intervened in a physical altercation involving a bartender and the victim. She stated that Smith did not realize at the time that the victim had been shot.
