Woodlawn Shooting Claims Life of 26-Year-Old, Marking Third Homicide in Recent Days

Baltimore County Police have confirmed the identity of a 26-year-old man, Christopher Pierce, as the victim of a fatal shooting that occurred in Woodlawn early Sunday morning.

This tragic incident marks the third homicide in Western Baltimore County within just five days, following the deaths of two children, 9-year-old Steve Allen and 15-year-old Giovanna Myrie, in Gwynn Oak last Tuesday night.

Pierce was shot outdoors on the 1600 block of Whitehead Court, a location situated near various businesses and a Social Security office. The area is conveniently located near the Beltway, which adds to its accessibility.

Witnesses in the vicinity expressed their shock and sorrow over the violence. Kayla Simms, who was staying at a nearby hotel, recounted hearing the commotion from her room. “It's heartbreaking to know that one of our people are gone. His mom's got to grieve. His family has to grieve, and friends. It's just a sad situation,” she said.

The earlier homicides involving Allen and Myrie have left the community on edge, with police still actively searching for suspects in both cases. Simms voiced concerns for her own children's safety, stating, “I have 4 kids right now up there, and I feel unsafe. I really do.”

Authorities are urging anyone with information related to these incidents to reach out by calling 410-887-4636.
