Duties
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Possession of a Maryland Professional Engineer license, in the appropriate option, is required. Evidence of license must be presented at the time of appointment.
Experience: Two (2) years of experience managing engineering projects as a licensed, professional engineer.
Selective Qualification: Three (3) years of experience in traffic engineering.

Preferred Qualifications:
The ideal candidate should possess the following:
- Extensive knowledge of traffic engineering principles, standards, policies, and practices
- Experience managing or overseeing statewide transportation engineering programs
- Experience reviewing and approving Design Requests (DRs), Traffic EngineeringStudies, traffic control device recommendations, and related engineering documentation
- Working knowledge of MUTCD, COMAR, SHA policies, standards, and guidelines
- Experience managing consultant contracts, technical proposals, and procurement activities
- Experience supervising professional engineering and technical staff
- Strong leadership, consensus building, coaching, and mentoring skills
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
- Experience preparing executive-level correspondence and presentations
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and complex assignments
- Experience coordinating with local governments, consultants, FHWA, and other stakeholders
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications including Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
- Strong organizational and time management skills
Qualifications
Candidate must possess a motor vehicle operator's license valid in the state of Maryland.
