#### Position Description
LOCATION:**Queen Anne's County, Maryland
**JOB SUMMARY**
The salary for this position is the minimum of the range.This position provides transportation for elderly and disabled persons and for the general public as required.
**ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS**
Provides cordial, responsive, and accurate customer service. Ability to handle customer issues on the spot and if needed report incidents on problems to dispatch. Handles customers professionally.
Able to operate all Non-CDL required vehicles in the County Ride fleet; to include cars, mini-vans, and with the appropriate license all passenger buses in the fleet.
Operates a two-way radio or other communication device to receive directions and assignments and ensures all communication is professional, appropriate, and in accordance with policies and procedures.
Talks politely with passengers to ascertain their destination and answer questions.
Collects correct fares from passengers. Understands fare structure and has the ability to communicate it to passengers.
Understands County Rides different service types and has the ability to communicate those effectively to passengers.
Maintains a client data log. Utilizing a tablet while stopped during the workday.
Inspects vehicle daily using inspection page of the tablet; checks fluid levels, tire pressure, lights, etc.
Maintains cleanliness of vehicle and performs minor maintenance.
Ability to load, unload and lock down a wheelchair client safely.
Ability to learn training techniques and subsequently train County Ride drivers on required transit and safety standards per policies and procedures.
**KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES**
LANGUAGE SKILLS: Read, write and converse using the English language. Ability to read and comprehend complex instructions, memos, and ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information to clients and other employees of the organization.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS: Ability to perform basic math skills such as addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division. Ability to perform these operations using units of American money and distance.
REASONING ABILITY: Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving several variables in potentially dangerous situations.
**CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS**
Possession of a valid class C Motor Vehicle Operators License issued by employees state Motor Vehicle Administration.
NIMS TRAINING
The following National Incident Management System (NIMS) Training is required within the first year of employment:

**EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE**
High school diploma or general education degree (GED) and five years driving experience and/or an acceptable combination of training and experience.
**PHYSICAL DEMANDS**
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit and drive a large vehicle; the employee may be required to regularly stand and walk and occasionally climb, stoop, or kneel.
Occasionally push, pull or otherwise move objects weighing up to 100 lbs. for short distances unassisted and for longer distances with assistance from another employee.

**WORKING ENVIRONMENT**
Over the road driving in different vehicle types for extended periods of time. Exposure to conditions such as loud noise, outside weather, toxic/caustic chemicals, disease, and infection may exist.
**COMMENTS**
This position has been designated as an ESSENTIAL POSITION and may be required to report to or remain on duty when County offices are closed due to inclement weather or for other reasons.
Employees must conform to applicable policies and safety rules.
This position is one within the Queen Annes County Civil Service System.An employee must serve a period of twelve months probation during which he or she may be terminated without notice, cause, hearing or right of appeal.
