Duties
Under general supervision, plans, coordinates, and provides professional public health nursing services to individuals, families, and groups in the home, community, and health centers.
Essential Job Duties- Provides nursing care, health assessments, health guidance, health education, and referral services to individuals, families, groups, and institutions.
- Provides and assists in the provision of patient case management and monitoring.
- Assess and monitors patients' physical and mental states of health and determines need for community based resources.
- Establishes nursing care priorities and coordinates the care with other resources.
- Monitors the progress of the patient care plan.
- Oversees and evaluates home-based services.
- Ensures compliance with Medicare and Medicaid regulations.
- Assists physicians and others in health clinics.
- Monitors and reports on patients' care plan progress.
- Conducts home visits and renders preventive nursing care.
- Performs various health screenings.
- Provides health screening education and counseling in the areas of disease prevention, health maintenance, and mental health.
- Participates in the instruction, orientation, and oversight of new public health nurses, nursing assistants, volunteers, and others.
- Prepares and maintains nursing records and reports.

Qualifications
Required QualificationsGraduation from an accredited college or university with a bachelor's degree in nursing.
OR
Graduation from an accredited diploma school of nursing, plus at least one year of professional nursing experience. (Additional qualifying education may be substituted on a year-for-year basis for the required experience.)
OR
Graduation from an accredited college or university with an associate in arts degree in nursing, plus at least two years' professional nursing experience. (Additional qualifying education may be substituted on a year-for-year basis for the required experience.)
Licenses and Certificates
Possession of a valid license to practice as a professional registered nurse, issued by the Maryland State Board of Examiners of Nurses, is required at the time of appointment. Possession of a valid driver's license equivalent to a noncommercial, class C Maryland driver's license is required at the time of appointment.
Proof of Licenses, Certifications and Education
Applicants are required to submit proof of licenses, certifications and education beyond high school to meet the required and preferred qualifications of the position. Diplomas or transcripts must show the applicant's major field of study. Copies and unofficial transcripts are acceptable.
Failure to submit proof of Licenses, Certifications and Education will result in your application not being considered.
Proof of Degree Equivalency

EXAMINATION PROCEDURE
