## Research Associate (Per Diem Flex Shift)
Parexel is a leading global clinical research organization dedicated to improving the world's health through clinical trials, regulatory expertise, consulting, and market access solutions. We're seeking an Entry Level Research Associate for our Baltimore, Maryland location to support our Early Phase Clinical Unit.
### About This Role
This is a long-term per diem position (not an internship or seasonal role) targeted for a March start. You'll be working onsite in Baltimore, MD, supporting the development of innovative new medicines through Phase I trials—the critical first step in testing novel treatments in humans. Research Associates at our Baltimore unit are essential to ensuring the successful completion of these early phase and "first in human" trials. This is an excellent opportunity if you aspire to advance into roles like enrollment specialist, clinical research coordinator, or eventually management, as Parexel provides strong internal support systems to help you grow your career.
### What You'll Do
After completing your required training period, your responsibilities will include understanding study protocols and performing required medical procedures. You'll recruit study participants by calling from our database, attending company-sponsored community events, and posting flyers in schools, senior centers, supermarkets, and other establishments.
You'll enter study participants into our tracking systems and study logs, maintain appointment calendars, and operate company information systems and computer programs. Conducting screening visits and protocol-specific study visits is a core part of the role, where you'll work alongside staff physicians to assess concomitant medications, adverse events, lab results, and other test outcomes.
Additional responsibilities include preparing and monitoring study supplies and stock levels in the clinic/hospital, ensuring basic participant safety, assisting with Monitor visits including room setup, and maintaining current knowledge of Clinical Operating Guidelines with proper application. You'll work with study participants and caregivers in an appropriate professional capacity, assure quality and accuracy of source and CRF documentation, and comply with Quality Management department guidelines by performing timely corrections as needed.
### What We're Looking For
You should have proven customer service experience in a fast-paced environment and background working in a medical or clinical setting. You must be comfortable with prolonged periods of standing and walking. Education-wise, we require either a B.S. or higher in a related life science field, OR a high school diploma/GED with relevant experience. CPT or Phlebotomy certification is highly preferred.
### Schedule & Availability
This is not a full-time opportunity—we're specifically seeking per diem candidates. The role is not eligible for full-time benefits.
During your first 4 to 6 weeks, you'll be required to work 40 hours per week for training on the day shift (6:50am to 3:20pm). After training is completed, minimum availability requirements are 16 hours per week AND either two 12-hour weekend shifts in a 4-week month OR three 12-hour weekend shifts in a 5-week month. The actual number of hours scheduled and confirmed can vary between 0-40 hours per week depending on business needs—hours are not guaranteed.
We're seeking a flexible candidate who can work any shift: day, evening, overnight, and weekend. Bi-monthly attendance may be required for training sessions unless there are no mandatory trainings to complete.
### Compensation & Benefits
The base pay range is $20.00 to $22.00 per hour. Actual salaries may vary within this range based on education, training, experience, professional achievement, and location. Some roles may be eligible for participation in Parexel's annual performance-based bonus plan, annual salary review, and additional total rewards incentives. Our talent acquisition team will provide details on bonus plans or incentive programs for eligible roles.
For all eligible employees, we offer market-leading benefit programs including paid time off, 401(k) match, life insurance, health insurance, and other benefit offerings in accordance with applicable plan terms.
### Equal Opportunity
Parexel is an equal opportunity employer. Qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard to legally protected status, including race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, national origin, disability, or protected veteran status.
