    This position is available within the University of Maryland’s Division of Information Technology (DIT).

    Join our Elevate team to be part of the transformation to the next generation of student services computing at the University of Maryland (UMD). We are seeking an experienced professional to serve as a Training Lead for the Elevate team. 


    The Training Lead, supervising a team of Training specialists, leads the development, delivery, and optimization of training programs for the Workday Student information system. The position translates complex technical, functional, and security configurations into actionable learning materials, ensuring staff proficiency through instructor-led sessions, workshops, and documentation to support system implementations and adoption.


    The Training Lead receives direct supervision from the Director but is expected to work across the Elevate team as necessary. 

    **This position is considered essential and may be required to work at the normal work location or an alternative location during a major catastrophic event, weather emergency, or other operational emergency to help maintain the continuity of University services.**

    **May be required to work evenings, nights, weekends, or different shifts for extended periods.**

    Physical Demands:

    Normal office environment – Sedentary work. Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or a negotiable amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects. Ability to travel around campus for meetings and to attend to duties.

    Preferences:

    • Prior experience working within a higher‑education environment (institutional, consulting, or system implementation) is strongly preferred.
    • Demonstrated ability to lead a workstream or manage contributors responsible for developing training materials.
    • Expertise in instructional design and the creation of training that supports technical, functional, and role‑based learning needs.
    • Fluent in Google Suite and skilled in training development and delivery tools (e.g., Articulate, Biteable, Camtasia) as well as LMS/EMS. platforms for training access and management.
    • Collaborative and detail‑oriented, with the ability to work effectively with project team members and campus stakeholders in fast‑moving environments.

      Additional Information: 
      Please note that all positions within the Division of Information Technology (DIT) have an in person component with expected time in our College Park, MD location per week. Telework is not a guaranteed work arrangement.

      Minimum Qualifications

      Education: Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university.

      Experience: Three (3) years or more years of professional experience and one (1) year of experience in a supervisory or lead role.

      Other: Additional work experience as defined above may be substituted on a year-for-year basis for up to four (4) years of the required education.

      KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, & ABILITIES:        

      Knowledge of principles and techniques of written and oral communication, including methods for adapting communication style to different audiences.

      Knowledge of documentation standards, procedures, and best practices for ensuring consistent and accurate team deliverables.

      Knowledge of office productivity software such as Microsoft Office 365 and Google Workspace.

      Skill in leading presentations and conducting training sessions for large groups.

      Skill in collaborating effectively with Managers, Assistant Directors, and Directors to identify and resolve problems, implement improvements, and address ongoing issues.

      Skill in coaching and mentoring team members to enhance performance, provide constructive feedback, and support professional development.

      Ability to define deadlines, manage workloads, and maintain quality standards for deliverables.

      Ability to comprehend and navigate complex interpersonal situations, applying empathy and discretion when addressing conflicts or sensitive matters.

      Ability to implement and uphold documentation standards and procedures across all team functions.
