Arrest Made in Connection with Southwest Baltimore Shooting

Baltimore Police detectives have arrested a 54-year-old man in connection with a shooting that occurred in the Southwest District.

Leonard Owens, a Baltimore resident, was taken into custody following an investigation into a shooting that injured a 36-year-old man on June 20, 2026, in the 300 block of North Gilmor Street.

The incident happened around 5:19 p.m. when officers responded to a ShotSpotter alert. Upon arrival, they found the victim suffering from a gunshot wound to the leg. He was subsequently transported to a local hospital, where his injuries were reported to be non-life-threatening.

Following their investigation, detectives were able to apprehend Owens without any incidents. He was taken to the Central Booking Intake Facility and charged with attempted first-degree murder.
