Baltimore Named Third Riskiest City for Drivers in National Report

Baltimore has been identified as the third riskiest city for drivers in the United States, according to Allstate's latest America's Best Drivers Report.

Washington, D.C. follows closely in second place, while Boston tops the list as the riskiest city for drivers. In contrast, Brownsville, Texas, has been recognized as the safest city for motorists.

The report evaluates collision claims across 200 of the most populated metropolitan areas, revealing that drivers in Baltimore are 142% more likely to be involved in a crash compared to the national average. On average, local drivers experience accidents every four years.

Amy Salmon, an Allstate Agency Owner in Anne Arundel County, acknowledged the challenges faced by Baltimore drivers, stating, "It's something we see daily. That's definitely a challenge for Baltimore." The report attributes common driving issues such as tailgating, speeding, and distracted driving as significant factors contributing to the city's high risk.

Salmon emphasized the importance of defensive driving, urging motorists to remain focused on the road. She noted that the recent collapse of the Key Bridge may have also impacted driving patterns and infrastructure, further complicating the situation for local commuters.

"I think that probably contributed a little as well," Salmon remarked, highlighting the need for awareness among drivers in the growing metropolitan area.
