A teacher and administrator from Baltimore City Schools, Dennis Jutras, 61, has been arrested and featured in a YouTube video by Chris Hansen, following an undercover investigation into the solicitation of minors online.
The video, part of Hansen's series 'Takedown with Chris Hansen,' was released on Thursday. It highlights the collaboration between Hansen and the Harford County Sheriff's Office in identifying and apprehending individuals suspected of attempting to exploit children.
Jutras, who was arrested last month, allegedly engaged in sexually explicit conversations with someone he believed to be a 15-year-old boy. The investigation began when a detective, posing as a minor on a social media platform, was contacted by Jutras. Authorities noted that Jutras had previously worked for many years at Baltimore Polytechnic Institute before transitioning to an administrative role in the school system.
During the investigation, Jutras reportedly sent inappropriate photos and arranged to meet the supposed minor at a park in Harford County. Upon his arrival, he was taken into custody by law enforcement.
Currently, Jutras is being held at the Harford County Detention Center without bail, with a preliminary hearing set for June 12 at 1 p.m.
The Harford County Sheriff's Office is urging anyone who may have been victimized by Jutras or who possesses relevant information to come forward. Individuals with information are encouraged to contact Detective Sergent at 410-836-5428.
Baltimore City Public Schools has issued a statement regarding Jutras's arrest, emphasizing their commitment to the safety and well-being of students.
