Harborplace Developer Announces Job Outreach Event for Subcontractors

As MCB Real Estate gears up for the construction of the first phase of its ambitious $900 million redevelopment project at Harborplace, the company is reaching out to local subcontractors to discuss job opportunities.

In partnership with the Whiting-Turner Contracting Company, MCB has organized a 'subcontractor outreach event' scheduled for next week. This session aims to provide information on bidding opportunities associated with the initial phase of the development, which will take place at the intersection of Pratt and Light streets.

Unveiled in October 2023, the overall project is a phased, mixed-use development featuring residential towers, office spaces, retail shops, restaurants, and public areas. The first phase, known as the Inner Harbor Park and Promenade Project, is designed to revitalize approximately 20 acres of waterfront parks and promenades along Baltimore’s Inner Harbor. Construction is anticipated to commence in the fourth quarter of 2026.

The outreach event will last 90 minutes and will inform subcontractors about various job opportunities arising from the project. MCB and Whiting-Turner are particularly focused on ensuring that Maryland-based minority, women-owned, and disadvantaged businesses are aware of these upcoming bidding opportunities.

Scheduled for Wednesday, June 17, from 1 p.m. to 2:30 p.m., the informational session will take place on the eighth floor of 1 East Pratt Street, an office building owned by MCB. Attendees will learn about the horizontal construction work related to the Inner Harbor Park and Promenade Project, which includes improvements to the promenade, bulkhead, and marine infrastructure, as well as landscaping and public-space enhancements.

Companies involved in the design phases of the project include Gensler as the Master Architect and STV Inc. as the lead Civil Engineer, along with several other firms contributing to various aspects of the project.

MCB and Whiting-Turner encourage subcontractors with relevant experience in sitework and infrastructure to attend the meeting and explore how they can contribute to this significant development for Baltimore.

There is no fee to attend the meeting, but prior registration is required. More details can be found on the project’s official website.
