An Idaho woman has been charged with murder following the deaths of her toddler twins, which she claimed occurred after they received vaccinations. Andrea Shaw, 23, was indicted on two counts of first-degree murder by a grand jury on June 29, according to court documents and a statement from the Payette Police Department.
Shaw is accused of suffocating her 18-month-old twins in May 2025. She was arrested by Boise police on Tuesday and was arraigned two days later. Currently, she is being held on a $2 million bond and could potentially face life imprisonment or the death penalty if convicted.
During a previous appearance on a show produced by Children's Health Defense, an anti-vaccine organization, Shaw alleged that her twins died shortly after receiving vaccinations for influenza and other diseases. Medical professionals have emphasized that the vaccines in question, including those for hepatitis A, influenza, and DTaP, are considered safe and effective for children.
Shaw's attorney, Joe Filicetti, stated that his client denies all charges and expressed confidence that the state would be unable to prove its case against her. He affirmed their commitment to her defense.
In addition to the murder charges, Shaw is also involved in a federal lawsuit against the American Academy of Pediatrics, alleging racketeering related to vaccine safety. The lawsuit claims that the Academy has misled families regarding the safety of childhood vaccinations. The Academy has sought to dismiss the lawsuit, arguing that it is part of a broader campaign against its science-based vaccine policies.
As the case unfolds, public health experts continue to advocate for the safety and efficacy of childhood vaccinations, reinforcing their importance in preventing serious diseases.
