BALTIMORE — A tragic incident occurred late Thursday night involving a moped, resulting in the death of a 20-year-old man.

At approximately 11:25 p.m., police were alerted to a crash in the 600 block of W. Franklin Street. Upon arrival, officers found the injured man, who was subsequently transported to a local hospital. Unfortunately, he succumbed to his injuries shortly after.

According to police reports, the incident began when an officer attempted to conduct a traffic stop on two mopeds in the 100 block of N. Eutaw Street. While one of the moped drivers complied and stopped, the other fled the scene.

The fleeing driver later crashed into a brick wall in the 600 block of W. Franklin Street, leading to the fatal injuries.

Authorities are urging anyone with further information about the incident to reach out to investigators at 410-396-2606.
