Recovery Efforts Underway for Man Who Jumped into Rock Creek

The search for a man who disappeared in Rock Creek after jumping into the water has shifted to a recovery mission, according to officials from the Maryland Natural Resources Police.

The incident occurred on Sunday at approximately 4:15 p.m. near the entrance of Rock Creek at Harry and Jeanette Weinberg Park in Pasadena. Authorities received a report about a missing boater in the area.

According to Vincent Dortenzo, a spokesperson for the Maryland Department of Natural Resources, the man was aboard a pontoon boat with six other individuals when he jumped into the creek to retrieve his hat, which had fallen overboard. Notably, he was not wearing a life vest at the time of the incident.

The other passengers on the boat were the ones who alerted emergency services after the man failed to resurface.
