U.S. Soldiers Killed in Iranian Attacks Identified from Hawaii and Texas

The U.S. military has announced the identities of two soldiers who lost their lives in Iranian attacks on an American base located in Jordan. The deceased service members are 1st Lt. Tyler James Feehan, 25, from Ewa Beach, Hawaii, and Pvt. Isabella Gonzales, 19, from Carrollton, Texas.

According to a statement released by the Defense Department on Monday, 1st Lt. Feehan was serving with the 2nd Battalion, 55th Air Defense Artillery Regiment, part of the 32nd Army Air and Missile Defense Command based at Fort Bragg, North Carolina. Pvt. Gonzales was assigned to the 1st Battalion, 57th Air Defense Artillery Regiment, which is part of the 52nd Air Defense Artillery Brigade stationed in Ansbach, Germany.

Their deaths were part of a tragic weekend that saw three U.S. service members killed. Since the onset of the conflict in late February, a total of seventeen U.S. service members have died.

In a related incident, another soldier was killed during a controlled detonation of a downed Iranian attack drone in northern Iraq, as reported by U.S. Central Command.

The ongoing conflict has seen the United States and Iran engage in a series of strikes, despite both nations having previously signed a memorandum of understanding aimed at reducing hostilities. The U.S. military stated that its recent strikes were focused on diminishing Iranian military capabilities that threaten commercial vessels and civilian mariners navigating the Strait of Hormuz, a critical passageway for global oil supply.

While U.S. military actions have reportedly weakened Iran's military presence, the country continues to exert control over the Strait, which was responsible for transporting over one-fifth of the world's oil supply prior to the commencement of hostilities.
