Notes:
1. Applicants may substitute documented and relevant experience repairing, servicing and maintaining automobiles, trucks, buses or comparable equipment on a year-for-year basis for the required education.
2. U.S. Armed Forces military service experience as described under the Minimum Qualifications may be substituted on a year-for-year basis for the required education.
3. Certification as a Technician by the National Institute for Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) may be substituted for two years of the required education. (The two years of experience used to qualify for ASE testing is considered an integral part of this substitution and cannot also be considered separately to meet Education Minimum Qualifications.)
4. Certification as a Master Technician by the National Institute for Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) can be substituted for the required education. Qualifications1. Candidates appointed to positions in this classification are assigned duties that require the operation of motor vehicles. Employees must possess and maintain a Class C motor vehicle operator's license valid in the State of Maryland. All applicants must list their license number and expiration date on the application.
2. Employees may be required to obtain a Class B Commercial Driver's License valid in the State of Maryland during the probationary period.
3. Employees in this class may be required to obtain Special Commercial Driver's License Endorsements for Hazardous Materials and Tank Vehicles depending on the type of equipment operated.
4. Employees will be required to successfully complete agency certification programs to be eligible for permanent status in this classification.
