Supervisor, Bus Maintenance

Duties

Education:  Graduation from a standard high school or possession of a high school equivalency certificate.
 
Experience:  Four years of experience in the repair, maintenance and inspection of heavy-duty automotive vehicles and equipment. *Two (2) years of experience supervisory and/or lead experience overseeing staff, assigning and reviewing work, providing direction and guidance, and ensuring compliance with organizational policies and procedures.

*Selective Qualification recruitments are utilized when the position requires specific or additional bona fide occupational qualifications (knowledge, skill, or ability). No substitution is allowed for a selective qualification.

Notes:  
  1. Additional experience as described above may be substituted for up to four years of the education requirement on a year for year basis.
  2. Additional technical or vocational training may be substituted for up to two years of the experience requirement on a year for year basis.

Special Requirements:
  1. Employees are subject to twenty-four (24) hour call-in during special or weather events, emergency situations, or as deemed necessary.
  2. Work is usually performed in a vehicle garage setting which may be hazardous.
  3. Bus Maintenance Supervisors may be subject to travel and work outdoors at various locations throughout the MTA service area, in all types of weather conditions.
  4. Although Supervisors are required to wear daily protective clothing and equipment (i.e. Uniforms; safety shoes; safety glasses; safety vest; etc) some assignments may require employees to wear additional protective clothing and or safety equipment.
  5. Employees in this classification are subject to substance abuse testing in accordance with the Code of Federal Regulations 49- Federal Department of Transportation Drug Alcohol Testing Protocols and Federal Transit Administration Alcohol Testing Rules.

Qualifications

Employees in this classification are assigned duties which require the operation of a motor vehicle. Employees assigned such duties will be required to possess motor vehicle operator's license valid in the State of Maryland.
